 THE CAPITOL CREW::

Suzi Conklin Nance- The Peace Activist
-

is the second generation Broker Owner of Capitol Realty Company.  Having virtually grown up in the industry, Suzi brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and historical perspective shared by few. Suzi is also committed to providing the same exceptional level of service that has defined Capitol Realty for the past 50 years.
Committed to preserving and enhancing Newport and the quality of life for all residents Suzi has always been an active member of our community from holding political office, working diligently to protect our beaches and open spaces as Chairman of both The Beach Commission and The Parks and Field Commission to sharing her time, energy and resources with many of Newport's local non-profit institutions and organizations.

Suzi is also the founder of Bring Peace Not Pain, an organization dedicated to promoting Peace and Global Citizenship.

On a personal note (because its always personal at Capitol) Suzi has been married to Bruce Nance for the past 25 years and together   they have three remarkable children Blake, Alex and Lizzi.

Joanne King-

the Vice President is celebrating her 20th year at Capitol. Despite a very successful career in pathology after the birth of her son Nick (an amazing photographer)Joanne was ready for a career change.

Driven by her innate style, sense and love of interiors she went back to school to study Interior Design at RISD. In her search for an avenue to utilize her newly acquired and finely honed skills, while having flexibility to enjoy time with her son, she decided on giving real estate a try. Luckily for us she chose Capitol as the place  to begin. Success came easily for Joanne as she brought that same level of attention  to detail, professionalism and commitment as she had to her distinguished career in pathology.

Twenty years and hundreds of devoted clients later, Joanne approaches each new client and property with the same enthusiasm and dedication as she did when she first began

Patty Martin - British ex-pat Sailor who took to the seas at an early age, with her husband celebrated yacht designer Rodger Martin, docked their boat in Newport and never looked back. Having been a sought after chef on boats Patty first foray in business was opening The Cheese Shop where demand for her delicious lunches created a daily line outside the shop. Although business was great, being confined in the shop all day was a little daunting for Patty who had become accustomed to the vast openness of the ocean. While deciding what her next venture would be Patty came to work at Capitol as the business manager. Still very involved with the sailing community it didn’t take Patty long to see the connection between helping people realize their sailing dreams to realizing their home owner dreams and that as a Realtor she could do that. Patty found happiness and success as a Realtor.

Veronica Meletta - “
Award winning baker”
Although Veronica raised her children outside of NY, they spent every summer in Newport. As her children began to leave the nest she began to extend her time in Newport until she found herself here fulltime. Although she loved spending more and more time in Newport as the last of her summer friends began to leave Veronica began feeling a bit restless. Enjoying a reputation for the most outstanding Carrot Cake, Veronica was soon shipping the rich, moist decadent cakes all over the country. Her cake business' growth was as satisfying as the cakes themselves but she found herself looking for somewhere else to place her abundance of energy. Having built, bought and sold many houses in her life and thinking back to law school where she loved studying real estate law a career in the real estate field seemed the logical choice and the decades long friendship with owner Suzi Nance made Capitol the logical office choice. Veronica’s carrot cakes still fill UPS trucks as they head to tables around the country but more importantly they delight the Capitol Crew at every birthday luncheon, and Veronica's recipe of brilliance, dedication and attention to detail makes her the perfect Realtor!

Ronnie Walworth - “The traveler”

the youngest of 16 children and a native of Newport, no one know this town and the stories like Ronnie. A local tour of the town with her will be an educational whirl-wind with untold stories of this very historical town. An avid sailor Ronnie and her husband have spent the past few years living between Newport, Australia and Brazil always returning to Newport and more importantly Capitol and her loyal clients. Her clients need not worry about being taken care of during her ventures as she is never more than a cell phone away and the entire Capitol Team is here for them.

Maria Civetti - “City girl..Island girl” Born in the North End of Boston and beginning her real estate career there during the condo conversion boom and cutting her teeth on the Boson waterfront revitalization project, Maria found herself looking for a quiet place to escape to when time allowed. She found that peace on Prudence Island, a tiny island off of Portsmouth. When Maria’s daughter Jordana began attending Portsmouth Abbey School Maria began enjoying more and more peaceful (started spending more and more) time on Prudence. It wasn’t long however before Maria began missing the excitement of the real estate business. With their daughters both attending Portsmouth Abbey, Maria and Suzi Nance soon met, and instantly clicked. To no one’s surprise Maria was the perfect addition to the Capitol Crew.

Tessara Shetty - “The Equestrian”

Tessara fell in love with Newport from the moment she crossed the Newport Bridge for the first time 10 years ago. She graduated Salve Regina with a B.S. in Financial Management and was a member of their Sailing Team. Tessara subsequently secured a position with a financial brokerage firm and began to settle into life as a young professional in Newport. In the summer of 2008 she made a career switch and joined the Real Estate industry as a Sales Associate at Capitol Realty Company. Real estate was the perfect career path to blend her interests in finance and historical architecture/design. Tessara, and her Weimaraner Zoe, enjoy spending time with her Morgan horse Rajah and life by the water.

Kelly Willette - “Tri-Athlete” After a year and a half in the classroom Kelly realized that teaching was perhaps not the profession for her and she began to explore different job and location options. It was the thought of long runs on the magnificent Cliff Walk and a free apartment that made accepting the housing job at Salve Regina University a no brainier. Kelly’s runs became longer and longer, she went from half marathons to full marathons to triathlons all the while moving up the ranks at Salve yet still living on campus. As she ran through the different neighborhoods of Newport she became more and more obsessed with the desire to buy a home of her own. Kelly knew that she would need a second job to afford buying a house. With the experience she gained and connections she made through working with Salve students, who longed to move off campus, she knew real estate would be the perfect complement. Although Kelly began her real estate career at a different agency, it didn’t take long for her to realize that she belonged at Capitol…and yes she bought her first home!

Alex Nance - “The Computer Guy A computer mastermind by choice, a realtor by blood Alex excels at both. The third generation of the Conklin family to be a part of Capitol, Alex decided he would return to his roots after attending American University in DC …his roots in both Newport and real estate. Proving that some things truly are in your blood, Alex’s transition to Capitol was seamless.

Mimi Henderson “The Key Stone”

Like the keystone holds up the arch, Mimi holds up Capitol. With Mimi having no previous experience working as an office manager, starting in an office as busy as Capitol seemed a daunting task. Having worked with Mimi on various volunteer projects in the past and experiencing her organization, intelligence and ability to keep cool no matter the chaos that surrounds her, Suzi Nance had no doubt that Mimi would surpass the highest of expectations. Suzi’s confidence in her ability to do the job well persuaded Mimi to give it a try. That was years and many new system designs ago, in an industry famous for the abundance of paperwork, policies and procedures. Thanks to the unshakable, unsinkable Mimi, Capitol runs like a finely tuned Swiss watch.
